คนทำงาน คือ ตัวแทนขององค์กร
หลังจากที่เขียนเรื่องราวที่เกิดขึ้นไปเมื่อ 2 วันที่แล้ว มีความเห็นหลากหลายผ่านสายตาเข้ามา แต่ความเห็นลักษณะหนึ่งที่อ่านแล้วต้องบอกว่ารับไม่ได้เป็นอย่างมาก คือ ความเห็นที่ว่า ความผิดเป็นของตัวแทนขาย ไม่ใช่เรื่องของบริษัทที่จะต้องรับผิดชอบ เพราะตัวแทนขายเป็นคนให้ข้อมูล ตัวแทนขายเป็นคนพูดความจริงไม่ครบถ้วน ไม่ใช่บริษัท … บริษัทไม่ผิด
เป็นการพูดแบบไม่มีความรับผิดชอบอย่างมาก
ในทางตรงกันข้าม หลายคนเห็นว่าถ้าบ้านที่ซื้อมามีความไม่เรียบร้อย หรือความบกพร่อง เช่น สายไฟภายในถูกเดินลอย ไม่ร้อยเข้าท่อ ตามแบบที่ระบุในสัญญา หลายคนเหล่านั้นจะมองว่า ความไม่เรียบร้อยที่เกิดขึ้น บริษัทต้องรับผิดชอบ เพราะบ้านถูกสร้าง และอยู่ภายใต้การดูแลของบริษัท
ถ้าใครไปพูดว่า คนงาน ผู้รับเหมา วิศวกรประจำโครงการ หรือหัวหน้าโครงการ เป็นคนที่ต้องรับผิดชอบ เพราะสิ่งที่เกิดขึ้นอาจเป็นการหมกเม็ดของคนทำงาน ไม่ใช่บริษัท เพราะบริษัทไม่ได้ลงมือก่อสร้าง หลายคนเหล่านั้นคงจะรู้สึกไม่พอใจ
ในการบริหารงาน ไม่ว่าคนทำงานจะอยู่ในระดับไหน คนเหล่านั้นก็ต้องถูกมองว่าเป็นตัวแทนของบริษัท หากมีปัญหา หรือข้อข้องใจใด ๆ เกิดขึ้น บริษัทควรรับทราบและดำเนินการบรรเทาปัญหา หรือข้อข้องใจนั้น ๆ ในเบื้องต้น ก่อนที่บริษัทจะไปดำเนินการเป็นการ เพื่อเสาะหาต้นตอของปัญหา วิธีตัดตอนปัญหาโดยการมองว่าเป็นความรับผิดชอบของบุคคล เป็นแนวคิดการบริหารแบบไม่มีควรรับผิดชอบ

เหตุการณ์เริ่มตั้งแต่ประมาณเดือนมิถุนายน 2552 เมื่อเราตกลงใจว่า จะต้องหาที่พักอาศัยเป็นของตัวเองสักแห่งหนึ่ง ที่ ๆ จะเรียกว่า “บ้านเรา” ได้เต็มปาก เราก็เริ่มต้นคิดคำนวณงบประมาณ จนไปลงตัวที่ตัวเลขหนึ่งซึ่งไม่มากไม่น้อยจนเกินไป หลังจากนั้นการค้นหาครั้งสำคัญอีกครั้งหนึ่งก็เริ่มขึ้น ตระเวณไปตามที่ต่าง ๆ ที่มีป้ายประกาศโครงการหมู่บ้าน แวะเวียนเข้าไปชื่นชมสถานที่ มีทั้งที่ชอบมากบ้าง ชอบน้อยบ้าง ไม่ชอบเลยก็มี
แต่สรุปรวม ๆ แล้ว เราเห็นตรงกันว่า เราชอบโครงการของแสนสิริที่สุด และลงตัวที่หมู่บ้านขนาดไม่เล็กไม่ใหญ่ที่ชื่อ ทาวน์พลัส สถานที่ตั้งของโครงการก็เหมาะสม เพราะอยู่ไม่ไกลจากที่ทำงานมากจนเกินไปนัก อยู่ในพื้นที่ ๆ คุ้นเคย และที่สำคัญ คำว่า “แสนสิริ”
เราแวะเวียนเข้ามาดูบ้านอยู่หลายครั้ง เริ่มจากบ้านหลังเล็ก ๆ ราคาใกล้เคียงงบประมาณก่อน แต่พอดูไปเรื่อง ๆ ความชอบใจไปตกอยู่ที่บ้านหลังหนึ่ง ซึ่งราคาเกือบจะสองเท่าของงบประมาณที่ตั้งใจ บ้านหลังนี้จะมีข้อเสียอยู่บ้างก็ตรงที่ มีโรงงานอะไรก็ไม่รู้อยู่ข้าง ๆ กำแพงบ้านพอดี
ตอนที่มาดูบ้านแรก ๆ นั้น เราก็ได้ถามคนขายตัวแทนบริษัทแสนสิริไปแล้วว่า “โรงงานนี้จะสร้างความรำคาญและความลำบากให้เราไหม” คนขายที่แสนดีก็ตอบกลับมาด้วยความมั่นใจว่า “หกโมงเย็นก็เลิกงานกันแล้ว กลางคืนสงบแน่นอน เสาร์-อาทิตย์ก็ไม่ทำงาน และทางโครงการทำกำแพงกันเสียงไว้ด้วย เพราะฉะนั้นไม่มีปัญหาเรื่องเสียงแน่นอน” ถึงกระนั้นด้วยความไม่มั่นใจ เราก็แวะเวียนเข้ามาดู และถามคำถามเดิมอยู่อีกหลายครั้ง และก็ได้ยังรับคำตอบเช่นเดิม
“หลังเวลาเลิกงานแล้ว หมู่บ้านนี้เงียบสงบ เหมาะแก่การสร้างครอบครัวใหม่”
แต่ราวกับว่าเป็นการเตือน ระหว่างที่คุยกับคนขายตัวแทนบริษัทแสนสิริอยู่นั้น ก็มักมีกลิ่นประหลาด ๆ คล้ายกลิ่นพลาสติกไหม้ลอยมาเตะจมูกอยู่เป็นระยะ ๆ พอถามคนขาย เธอก็ตอบด้วยสายตางุนงงว่า “มีกลิ่นด้วยเหรอ ตั้งแต่อยู่ขายมา ไม่เคยมีกลิ่น”
เมื่อได้รับคำยืนยันเป็นมั่งเป็นเหมาะ เราก็ตัดสินใจว่า เกินงบก็เอา ดิ้นรนหาทาง เพื่อทำให้บ้านนี้เป็นของเรา ให้เป็น “บ้านเรา”
ช่วงที่เข้ามาทดลองอยู่ (คนเดียว) ก่อนจะย้ายเข้ามาอยู่จริง ก็เพิ่งได้รับรู้ความเป็นจริงข้อแรกว่า โรงงานนี้ไม่เงียบหลังหกโมงเย็น ตลอดเวลาจะมีเสียงเบื้องหลัง (background noise) ดังอยู่ และมีเสียงวัตถุตกกระทบเป็นจังหวะ ๆ
(ได้รับรู้ทีหลังว่า โรงงานที่ส่งเสียง เป็นโรงงานขึ้นรูปพลาสติก และกลิ่นมาจากโรงงานหลอมพลาสติกทางด้านหน้า)
นับจนถึงตอนนี้ จะครบรอบ 1 ปีของการย้ายเข้ามาอยู่ในบ้านหลังนี้ โอกาสที่จะได้ยิน “เสียงเงียบ” เกิดขึ้นนับครั้งและกำหนดวันได้ นั่นคือโรงงานนี้จะเงียบ เฉพาะในวันหยุดราชการ หรือวันหยุดเทศกาลเท่านั้น … ราวกับว่า เครื่องจักรต้องกลับต่างจังหวัดไปเยี่ยมญาติ

ความเป็นจริงข้องที่สองตามมาติด ๆ กำแพงกันเสียง ไม่ได้ลดเสียงอย่างที่คิด เพราะนอกจากจะกั้นไม่ให้ฝั่งตรงข้ามมองเข้ามาได้บ้านได้แล้ว กำแพงนี้ไม่ได้ทำประโยชน์อะไรเลย
(ถ้าจะมองให้แฟร์ ถ้าไม่มีกำแพงนี้ เสียงอาจจะดังกว่านี้ก็ได้นะ แต่ ณ เวลาที่เรามาดูบ้าน เราก็จะได้รู้ว่า “ของจริงมันเป็นยังไง”)
ถึงเวลานี้ เสียงโรงงานที่ไม่รู้จักเงียบนั้น ได้เพิ่มความดังและความแตกต่างของเสียง จนตอนนี้นับรูปแบบกันไม่ไหวแล้ว และด้วยความที่เสียงนั้นดังเข้ามาถึงในบ้านแม้ขณะเปิดเครื่องปรับอากาศ บริเวณชั้น 3 ซึ่งถูกออกแบบไว้สำหรับเป็นที่หลับนอน จึงถูกปล่อยร้าง และพากันยกเครื่องนอนมาพำนักในห้องทำงานชั้น 2 ซึ่งเสียงเบากว่า (ย้ำ ไม่ใช่เงียบ แต่เบากว่า)

ประเด็นที่เกิดขึ้นก็คือ เราได้ร้องเรียนไปยังบริษัทแสนสิริ ผ่านทาง call center และแจ้งผ่านผู้จัดการหมู่บ้านว่า เราต้องการนัดพบตัวแทนจากบริษัทแสนสิริ เพราะคาดหวังว่า บริษัทจะส่งตัวแทนที่สามารถตัดสินใจได้ แวะเวียนเข้ามารับฟัง และรับรู้ความเดือดร้อนของลูกค้าบ้าง เนื่องจากสิ่งที่เกิดขึ้น ไม่ได้เกิดจากความตั้งใจของลูกค้าเลย เนื่องจากลูกค้าได้รับคำยืนยันเป็นมั่นเป็นเหมาะจากตัวแทนของบริษัท ซึ่งเป็นพนักงานฝ่ายขายแล้วว่า ถ้าซื้อบ้านของแสนสิริที่นี่ จะไม่มีปัญหาใด ๆ แต่เวลานี้ลูกค้าต้องรับความลำบากในการใช้ชีวิตอย่างมาก จากมลภาวะทั้งทางเสียงและกลิ่น
เช้าวันนี้ได้รับทราบผลว่า ตัวแทนจากบริษัทแสนสิริ ซึ่งเข้าใจว่าเป็นฝ่ายที่ดูแลโครงการนี้ บอกผ่านผู้จัดการหมู่บ้านมาว่า ขั้นตอนการขายนั้นผ่านไปแล้ว ความรับผิดชอบผ่านจากมือของบริษัทแสนสิริไปแล้ว ดังนั้นจึงไม่มีความต้องการที่จะนัดเข้ามาพูดคุย หรือรับรู้ปัญหาความเดือดร้อนใด ๆ
ตัดตอนความรับผิดชอบ เพื่อไม่ให้ระคายเคืองผู้บริหารระดับสูงขึ้นไป
หลังจากคิดใคร่ครวญดูแล้ว คงเหมาะสมที่เราจะเขียนระบายความในใจออกมาบ้าง เพื่อที่ว่า ถ้าในอนาคตผู้อ่านจะตัดสินใจเป็นลูกค้าของบริษัทแสนสิริ ผู้อ่านจะต้องชั่งใจอย่างมาก ก่อนจะตัดสินใจเชื่อถือคำพูดของตัวแทนฝ่ายขายจากบริษัท รวมถึงความใส่ใจในการดูแลลูกค้าหลังการขายของแสนสิริด้วย

Once again, it’s the problem of misunderstanding. Or was I trying too hard to understand? It seems everything I tried to do contains some kind of trigger that leads to the “discomfort”. (I don’t know which word to choose for the occasion.)
Or did I try too hard to please? Probably not hard enough.
And once again I snapped. I tried to hold it together as long as I could. But since I’m one of your creation, you might also know that I do have a limit.
So here we’re at this situation again, the brink of destruction (I think I like this name already). This happens every so often I feel like it’s part of being “a family” already. That is bad, I presume.
But if this is a part of your test, please don’t make it too difficult. Please take it easy on the “how strong are they?” kind of question.
However if it’s your will to keep the tough love, I have no objection. I will try my best to pass it. I promise I will keep on trying. I promise I will not be the one who ends this.

So the Huawei E585 MiFi has arrived. The unit is slightly bigger than I thought but that does not really matter since I can just turn it on and put it away in the bag until I want to turn it off. Beside the MiFi unit, the box contains a standard 5V USB charger, one long and one short USB cable and a cue-card-style manual.
Initial setup is nothing. Just slide in the SIM card, wait for the unit to connect to the cellular network, connect the device to the newly created WiFi and you are ready to start surfing.
There is a screen in front of the unit that display connection status (data in/out and connection time) and general information (signal strength, cellular network).
E585 comes with web interface so it is very easy to make changes to the unit’s configuration. If you have some experience with setting up a WiFi router, you will have no problem with this one.
Connection speed should depend on the kind of service you have. I am using DTAC EDGE so it is “usable” for most of my routine tasks. I will not be streaming movie through my iPad anyway.
So there goes my quick report on the MiFi. Let’s head back to get some real work done!
Update:
It’s been about 3 weeks since I got my hand on the MiFi and I have a bit more detail to add to the review. And since I haven’t posted the actual review yet, so let’s put it here.
DTAC’s EDGE is not really “that usable”! It is very slow. Using it for Twitter or casual Facebook browsing is OK but when it come to sending email with attachments or a little more serious browsing, it fails miserably. (The attachment I usually send is In the range of 4-5MB and up. And I’m comparing this to AIS’s EDGE I’m using on my iPhone. Your experience might be different.)
I don’t have the speed test screen capture but DTAC speed was usually about 10-30 Kbps. Comparing to 40-100 Kbps for AIS.
So I decided to get myself a 3G SIM card. First I thought I’d go for True’s EDGE/WiFi with 3G package. But I checked with Mr. @smartbrain and found out that it only works on 850MHz band which E585 doesn’t support. So I got a SIM from TOT instead. The speed is amazing.
This is faster than my home Internet!
One more thing, the device gets warmer (and warmer?) after a period of usage but I don’t think there is anything to worry about.
One thing I would like, a remote (web interface?) turn off feature. It would be nice to be able to turn the device off when finish using it without having to bring it out from the bag.

เล่าซะยืดยาว เพียงแค่อยากจะบอกว่า ระบบการบังคับใช้กฎหมาย และถ่วงดุลย์ของประเทศนู้นเค้าน่าสนใจ แม้คนส่วนใหญ่จะเห็นด้วยกับกฎหมายข้อนี้ และกฎหมายข้อนี้ก็ได้ถูกบังคับใช้ไปแล้ว แต่คนส่วนน้อยก็สามารถยกประเด็นขึ้นมาโต้แย้ง และถ้ามีเหตุผลเพียงพอ ก็ล้มกฎหมายที่ถูกบังคับใช้ไปแล้วได้ แต่ถ้ามาตัดสินอย่างนี้ในประเทศนี้ คงมีคนหาว่า ศาลเอียง เข้าข้างเกย์ :P

Regarding page size selection in Pages app (and Numbers too, I suppose), it turns out I did not look hard enough. See that little page curl on the lower right? It reveals the papar size selection.
As for the issue of print, there is an application called Air Sharing HD that allows you to “send” file to and from the iPad via WiFi (web interface).
It can also connect to FTP server, MobileMe, Dropbox and many cloud storage services.
I have no idea what wrong with this one folder on my Dropbox though. I cannot access any file or folder in it. (The white generic icons are folders.)
And lastly, this application can print the document through a share printer in the network! The printer has to be shared from a computer, by the way. It cannot direct connect to a network printer. I suppose it has something to do with printer driver.
However, it would be great if Apple could just add the print to shared printer in the next update of iOS for iPad. * hint hint *
One cool application I always want to have my hands on is Flipboard and I just received the invitation today.
It is an alternative way to live your social-networking life and a good one too. Here is the sample from my Twitter feed.
And last thing I will say to bore you regarding my experience with the iPad is how dirty my fingers are.
My god! This is embarssing. I am going to get the screen protector!

After a long contemplation, I decided to trade-in my old iPhone 3G for an iPad. I got the 64GB WiFi version since I will be using it mostly at home and the office. And since I have already bought a MiFi, I will be able to use it outside too if necessary. (I will talk about MiFi later.)
I have been using/playing with the unit since I got home, that’s about 8 hours. Here is my initial impression.
First of all, it worths all the hype. This is a great piece of hardware. The unit is a bit heavier than expected but it balances out quite well. The screen is crystal clear and extra bright. I haven’t try it out in the sun yet but I think it will perform well.
[ Note: I heard a news that Apple is being sued over iPad overheating under the sun. Ummm, the front of this thing is black. Black absorbs sunlight. Sunlight comes with heat. Black thing tends to heat up under sunlight. My camera feels warm-to-touch under sunlight. Common sense … don’t sit and use iPad under direct sunlight for too long. -“- ]
The onscreen keyboard needs a bit of getting used to. It is quite difficult to type since I have the habit of resting my fingers on the home keys. So the backspace got the most used at the moment.
In portrait mode, the keyboard is rather small to type so I have to switch to “peck mode”.
Landscape mode is more useful since the keys are significantly larger. But I still feel awkward touch-typing on this thing. Mind you, I have significantly big hands. :p
[ Note: The onscreen keyboard typing speed does increase after a period of practice so I believe my complain will not be valid in a few days. ]
Good news is my old Apple’s bluetooth keyboard does work with the iPad too and I am having fun typing on it right now.
If you have a bluetooh keyboard connected and you need to use the onscreen keyboard (for whatever reason), you can press the Eject key on the external keyboard and the onscreen will slide up.
There is no official Thai keyboard in the firmware yet so I cannot comment on that. There are a couple of paid software-enabled Thai keyboard floating around; one in the App Store ($.99) and the other required a jailbreak (150 baht). I do not really feel the need to pay for a Thai keyboard and I only jailbreak the devices I do not use daily so I will live with no-Thai-keyboard for now.
Currently, I have about one and a half page of applications. The second page contains rarely used built-in apps. Some of the most often used are …
(Yes, I have “that book” too. I have not managed to read past the intro yet. The content is “too disturbing”.)
Many of them are paid applications but they are compatible with both iPhone and iPad so I think it worth the investment.
The iPad is running iOS 3.2.1 so there is no multitasking. I do not feel that I miss anything though. I rarely use the multitask feature on my iPhone 3GS (with iOS4) anyway, except for the “close this application” feature. -“-
One feature I would love to have from iOS4 is Unified Inbox and I hope it will come soon. Oh, separate signature for each email account would be nice too!
A couple of “oops” and plenty of “ahhs” happened during my marathon-excitement with the iPad.
Oops Fingerprint! — There has been talks about this all over the web but I did not prepare for what I saw when I turned off the screen for the first time. If you look closely, you can guess which letters I typed on most often! :P
Ahhs Dictionary Modal — I can look up definition anywhere anytime! I love dictionary!
Oops Dictionary Modal might not work in landscape mode if there is not enough space below the popup. (Please see photo.)
Oops Pages only comes with Letter paper setup. I cannot find a way to set it to A4 any where. Maybe I did not look hard enough.
Ahhs I can “send” documents (such as email attachment or files saved on Dropbox) to open the associated applications. This is a screen capture of Dropbox app.
Oops Print — I wish I can print directly from the iPad, at least to a share printer on a Mac.
Oops How can I move this document out from the iPad anyway?
As it turns out, I need to export the document then save it out via iTunes or attach it to an email then send to myself.
The same also applies to adding document to the iPad. It has to be done via iTunes.
As for the rest of the ahhs, I will just have to ask you to look at the photos. ;)
I am certain that I would not be writing a website on this thing (but editing website content, I can do). But I believe it could be a potential notebook-replacement for an average daily computer usage (email, web surfing, social networking, etc.) In conclusion, I am extremely happy!!!!
Question to the current owner: Should I get a screen protector? Personally I do not like it that much and I already bought the case. Should that be enough?
